I’m back in New England with the pup and it was unseasonable warm today! If I were in Charleston I would think nothing of it, but for CT in mid April, 80’s are just downright hot. In celebration of the hot weather and since I haven’t made any doggie delicacies lately I decided to make Miss Tiggles a cool refreshing treat!
Last summer when Tig and I were sweating through the dog days of summer in Charleston I made sure to pick up some Frosty Paws when I went to the grocery store. Being the thoughtful pup that she is, Tigger would share the frozen ice cream with her housemate Bean, both of which gobbled it down without the hint of a brain freeze. With this weird weather upon us I decided to see if I could make a homemade version of the treat.
PB&B Pup a Dup Ice Cream
1 cup plain yogurt
2 T natural peanut butter
1. In a food processor or blender blend together all of the ingredients until smooth.
2. Spoon the mixture into ice cube trays or Dixie cups depending on your dog’s size (The ice cube trays below were purchased at Ikea). I also used small star chocolate molds so I could have some treats that were a bit smaller than the ice cube versions.
Tigger thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter-banana ice cream hopefully your dog will too!
